#AMDFW – 12.30.16 Show of the Week!

Today is a wonderful day as it is the first post for our new blog site.  My name is Kilynn, I am an engineer and producer with Bridge Recording as well as being a musician in the DFW area for almost two decades.  I’ll be sharing all the best venues, and local artists.  Thanks for joining us.  Make sure you join our mailing list to get the latest Arts and Music DFW information.

What is this weeks “Do Not Miss It” show?

Roaring Sun at Tradewinds Social Club

These guys are a up and coming Indie band from Austin, TX.  I would say they are psychedelic eclectic and in a world of copy cats they have definitely found a niche to play in and seem to be very settled into that space.

Formed by brothers Doran and David Rawlinson in 2015, Austin’s Roaring Sun performs indie pop music with subtle psychedelic influences that may remind listeners of electronic act Youth Lagoon for their eclectic sound.

Released earlier this year, “Racecar” is a track that mixes indie pop with an experimental vibe, creating something that we don’t normally hear in Austin. With an indelible hook and addicting vocals, Roaring Sun is certain to be Austin’s next hot new group, taking the music scene by storm and gaining fans not only in Austin, but beyond.

Local Music

While Roaring Sun is definitely great what makes this show a do not miss is the lineup.  As you know we feature local artists and musicians.  This show has several but you really DO NOT want to miss our Featured Artist: Enter The Lab

Enter The Lab is an Alternative band with some tasty funk overtones and knods to some other great genre’s.  Give them a “Like and Share” here:

We sat down with front man Fernando Page to get a little insight into the band and what drives his music.  This is what he had to say:

When do your ideas come to you?

I’ve many ideas come to me directly through dreams. So when I’m awake, if I’m in a meditative type state of relaxation or just really relaxed and happy I have good ideas come.

Why did you decide to become a songwriter?

I can’t define an epicenter as such. But eventually I realized I was at a point of no return, when my investment became too great to sacrifice and I just knew I was totally vest.

What’s your favorite piece of music and why?

I would have to say as far as what’s the most influential piece driving the sound? I’d have to say “Journey of The Sorcerer” by The Eagles. It captures much of the playful spirited art I’d like to capture.

Which song you have written is your favorite and why?

Usually it’s always the last one, but I like “I Blame The Rock and Roll”. It has a certain guttural return back to the intro toward the end.

What’s the weirdest thing that’s ever happened to you while working on a song or playing a song live?

I cut open the tip of my index finger and bled all over my pick guard and strings but finished the set.

What’s next?

Where ever the wind blows. I’ll take all opportunities and depending on distance all price tags as long as we can cover expenses, eat and pay rent.

We definitely think Fernando and Enter The Lab are destined to have some wind in their sails.  Between all those catchy hooks and unique presentation as well as a dedication to music that is rare these days, there really isn’t another path for this band.  We’ll see you at the show!
